Rhetoric of Inquiry

When the First-Year Composition Program redesigned English 102 to shift emphasis from literary studies to diverse methods of inquiry, no available textbook covered all the methods and subjects the new course would discuss.

To address this need, the Composition Director and teachers in the program created Rhetoric of Inquiry, a custom rhetoric integrating chapters—on field research, on historical research, on academic research, and more—from five Bedford/St. Martin's textbooks.

Now in a second edition, which includes new original chapters, questions and activities for all the chapters, and sample work by UTK students, Rhetoric of Inquiry is the perfect textbook for the course.

"The process of creating a custom-published text with Bedford/St. Martin's was seamless, from conceptualization to final product, thanks to the professionals who worked to understand our curricular needs and goals... We were extremely satisfied with the end result—a unified, coherent, well-designed, and cost-effective book uniquely tailored to our composition program."
