Diagnostic Quizzing/Study Plans
Informed by the latest research in formative assessment, PsychPortal’s Diagnostic Quizzing helps students pinpoint the concepts and themes that are most difficult for them to grasp. Each eBook chapter features a Personalized Study Plan with questions mapped to key concepts within each chapter. Quiz results direct students to reading sections, interactive activities, and other resources to help them focus study time on important concepts they need to master. Instructors can assign the Pre-lecture Quizzes to see how well students comprehend the material before coming to class; or direct them to the Mastery Quizzes, which they can use to gauge their understanding at any time throughout the semester. Quizzes are randomized and timed, and instructors can receive summaries of student results in reports that follow the section order of the chapters.

Concepts in Action
Embedded throughout the eBook, Concepts in Action give students a media-powered opportunity to solidify their understanding of key concepts as they encounter them in the text. These Flash-based activities, created by award-winning multimedia author Tom Ludwig of Hope College, incorporate interactivity, video, and demonstrations, plus dynamic animations by Terry Bazzett (SUNY College at Geneseo). Without leaving the eBook page, students can explore the cerebral cortex, test their memories, learn how we sense taste, experience perceptual illusions, and more. The Portal gradebook records whether or not a student has completed the activity, making them an effective, easily-reviewed assessment option.

PsychPortal integrates the online version of Worth's extraordinary Student Video Tool Kit for Introductory Psychology. The Video Tool Kit brings together video excerpts of some of the most famous and important psychology research and news footage ever filmed (from the BBC Motion Gallery, CBS News archives, and other sources)—and matches them up with specific areas of coverage in each of Worth’s introductory psychology textbooks. Each of the 51 video clips includes built-in descriptions and questions, developed by Martin Bolt from Calvin College, focusing on the ideas students need to learn the most. Fully customizable, the Video Tool Kit offers instructors the option of assigning videos with or without notes and instructions. When accessed through PsychPortal, student responses are integrated into the Portal's gradebook.
